ACC Community Park Amphitheater
Kids dance, neighbors visit, and the park rocks during Music in May in Anthem. Held every Friday night in May in the ACC Community Park Amphitheater, this family-friendly event invites the community to grab a blanket, bring a picnic dinner, and enjoy the diverse sounds of local Arizona bands underneath the Anthem sky.
Open to the public, each show is from 7 to 9 p.m., 41703 N. Gavilan Peak Parkway. Admission and parking are free.
In 2014, Music in May drew record crowds. The series opened with Young Country on May 2. The band covered the best of current and past country hits, incorporating many genres into the mix. Powerhouse duo Brooks and Dunn said of the band, “The boys of Young Country rival any national act we’ve ever heard; they’re just plain good.” Food trucks were also at opening night, and due to popularity, were invited back for additional shows.
The series continued May 9 with The JJ's Band, back as the popular demand band from 2013. JJ’s Band offered electrifying vocals and high energy sets, performing music from the '60s and '70s Funk, '80s, '90s, Disco, classic soul, Motown, standards and current dance hits.
May 16, The Saucy Jacks took the stage to transport the audience back in time with performances that embodied the feel, energy and sounds of the ’60’s British Invasion with high-energy live versions of music, just as the original bands performed them.
May 23 brought the Tommy Titan Band to town when originally scheduled David Hernandez had to cancel. The soulful Las Vegas-based five-piece band and vocalists covered the 60s to Top 40 and took the party into the audience with dancing and interactivity that wowed the crowds. The series closed with reggae/island beats Sugahbeat on May 30.
