The Anthem Community Council (ACC) has embarked on an exciting project to expand the pickleball facilities at the Anthem Community Center. This initiative comes after extensive public input and approval from the ACC Board of Directors in 2021-2022.
Director of Programs and Aquatics Scott Newell says “We are excited to have more courts for resident play as well as our successful Pickleball programs. The ACC has hosted multiple tournaments and events and with four more courts we can continue to host these while having courts available for resident to use and possibly at some point in the future host even larger events.”
The expansion includes the construction of four new post-tension concrete pickleball courts, designed to meet the USAPA preferred standards. Each court will feature a play surface, striping, posts, and nets, with dimensions of 64’ x 34’ and additional overruns. The courts will be equipped with LED lighting to ensure optimal visibility during evening play, matching the existing court lights.
To enhance the playing experience, the project also includes the installation of 8-foot coated chain link fencing with windscreen around the perimeter and 4-foot fencing between the courts. Each court will have individual entry gates, providing easy access for players. Additionally, three shade canopies with seating will be installed to offer comfort and respite during games.
The project scope further involves the construction of a retaining wall, installation of a 12-foot storm drainage pipe, catch basin, and sidewalk removal and repour. The existing parking lot at the Anthem Community Center will accommodate the new courts, ensuring no additional parking adjustments are required. Refer to this map for location information. The ACC has selected Haydon Construction as the General Contractor who can complete the project within the desired time schedule and budget, fostering a collaborative relationship to ensure efficient decision-making and cost control. This expansion promises to deliver an outstanding finished product, enhancing the recreational amenities available to Anthem residents. They will be breaking ground on 5/5/2025 with a projected end date of 10/29/2025.
