Alzheimer's Education (All Ages)

  • Classes are free. 
  • Registration is appreciated, but not required. Register to attend.
  • The Alzheimer's Association Desert Southwest Chapter offers a variety of educational programs to meet the needs of families, care partners, and individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia.

Upcoming classes include:

  • Legal and Financial Advice | October 13, 9-10:30 a.m.

Antiques On-the-Go (All Ages)

  • Time slots are free.
  • Register to attend. Online registration guarantees your 15-minute time slot. Walk-ins accepted only if time allows.
  • J. Levine will have consignment specialists on-site to provide a verbal market value of up to three items. This market value is what people could expect if they were to sell the item. 

Upcoming programs include:

  • November 4, 9 a.m.-noon

Intermediate Photography - Adobe Lightroom (16 yrs.+)

  • Classes are free, but limited to 16 participants.
  • Register to attend.
  • Learn Adobe Lightroom, a premier photo editing software used by professional and amateur photographers around the world.
  • Participants should have some experience with photography and understand basic terminology and how your cameras work.
  • Bring your Windows laptop to class with Lightroom already loaded (and have some photographs loaded) so that editing fundamentals can be learned and practiced.

  • October 28, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
  • November 4, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Jewelry Making (16 yrs.+)

  • Cost varies by class; classes are 2-3 hours in length.
  • Register in person at the Civic Building. Classes are limited to six participants.
  • All tools and materials are provided. 
  • Taught by Denise Paradis

Upcoming classes include:

  • Intro to Wire Working: $40 | October 21, 9 a.m. 

Meditation (18 yrs.+)

  • Cost is $36 for the each 3-week series (advance registration required); $15 per session drop-in rate. 
  • Register for the series in advance at the Civic Building.
  • Presented by the Kadampa Meditation Center Phoenix

Meditations for a Balanced Mind - Learn meditations to replace painful attitudes with minds of love, respect, patience and kindness. Three-part series includes:

  • Balancing the Mind | October 12, 6:30-7:45 p.m.
  • Gratitude and Appreciation | October 19, 6:30-7:45 p.m.
  • Everyone is Equal | October 26, 6:30-7:45 p.m.

Meditations for Improving Relationships - Learn meditations to improve the way we relate to others. Three-part series includes:

  • What is Love? | November 2, 6:30-7:45 p.m.
  • A Special View of Others | November 9, 6:30-7:45 p.m.
  • Overcoming the Fault-finding Mind | November 16, 6:30-7:45 p.m.

Mind Quest (16 yrs.+)

  • Series is free. 
  • Registration is appreciated, but not required. Register to attend.
  • Think TED Talks, Anthem-style. Monthly program will feature high-caliber, university-style speakers on diverse topics. Any topic someone is an “expert” in will be considered for the series. Apply to be a speaker.


Red Cross Blood Drive (17 yrs. +)

  • Blood donation is an integral part of the health and well-being of every community.
  • The need is constant, and there is no substitute for volunteer blood donations. In fact, there is an extreme shortage of blood available to those in need.
  • Visit the Civic Building make a live-saving donation. 
  • Select a donation time (enter 85086 and select Anthem Civic Building).

Upcoming donation opportunities:

  • December 12, 12:30-6:30 p.m.

Senior Cinema Wednesday (Ages 50 yrs.+)

  • Cost is $5 (covers snacks/beverages); October and November features are free, thanks to a sponsorship by The Enclave at Anthem.
  • Registration is not required; pay at the door.
  • The program will occur the third Wednesday of each month in 2017 (except February and November). Closed captioning provided.
